Certificate III in Individual Support is an Australian vocational qualification designed to prepare students for roles in the aged care, disability, and home and community care sectors
This qualification aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver person-centered support to individuals who require assistance due to aging, disability, or other reasons. - Support and Care: Providing support to clients in their daily activities, including personal care, mobility, and social engagement.
- Health and Wellbeing: Promoting and maintaining the health and wellbeing of clients, including understanding common health issues and how to manage them.
- Communication and Relationships: Developing effective communication skills and building positive relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Legal and Ethical Frameworks: Understanding the legal and ethical considerations in the care sector, including duty of care, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Safety Practices: Ensuring a safe environment for clients and caregivers, including manual handling, infection control, and emergency procedures.
- Specialized Care: Providing care for specific needs such as dementia, palliative care, and disability support.
The assessment methods for this qualification typically include a combination of:
- Written assignments
- Practical demonstrations
- Observations in the workplace

- Portfolios of evidence
For face to face classes (not including RPL)
- Disposal tools free from IAMA
- Field trips may incur a cost to the Learner. (going to library or business places)
- Disposal Tools (Notebooks and pens)
- Laptop supported from IAMA for practice and research in campus only.
- There are generally no formal prerequisites for this course, but a basic level of literacy and numeracy is expected.
- Some cases may need Working with Children Check or a similar background check due to the nature of the work.
