This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings
Recertification
The recommended industry standard to maintain current competency is for this course to be refreshed every 12 months..Assessment

HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
This course is delivered in following way:
- Classroom based (Face to Face) (practical is essential to obtain the competency)
Face to Face classroom base IAMA Canterbury campus
6 hours per day
Additionally, student is expected at least 6 hours of individual study per week not limited to research, learning activities and assessment activities.
Assessment is based on competency (the ability to demonstrate specific skills) and is undertaken through a combination which consist of classroom observation, discussion, case studies, role plays and written assignments.
